Salesforce Final Class Presentation December 2018

Juan Moguel Wrote this for me, I loved the fact that he wrote it imagining what was going thru my mind! I have decided to leave this as it is! thanks Juan. Rafa

On August 2018 something amazing started in the Facultad de Matemáticas of UADY in Merida, Mexico. It was the beginning of the first Salesforce class in the university and a great opportunity to me to help other people to jump in to the Salesforce ecosystem.

When this opportunity showed up I immediately started to think what can be my teaching style and what we are going to do during this semester. I decided that all the students will make teams with different roles based on Scrum methodology and each team will be working in a different project solving a different problem of real life industry.

Just a few days before the class started, I was informed that 24 people signed up to the class. This was great because I had the opportunity to impact 24 young students into my real business and Salesforce experience.

With the number of students ready, I decided to make 5 teams and after they made their teams every team chose a problem and started to work.

My way of teaching was very clear and simple every student needed to get at least 35,000 points on Trailhead completing the Trailmix for developers in Trailhead by the other hand I was decided to have at least 2 exams in order to test if everyone was studding and my main goal for this was to show students how a Salesforce exam was, showing them the type of questions that are in the Developer Certification exam.

Okay okay I will stop with the chat and I will show you the problem of every team and the results of the projects.

Primary Solutions

Initial Problem:  Make a system control of clients where they make a call and users can answer (using Twillio) in Salesforce and see the client case’s history.

Final Description of the problem provide by the team: The project is based by receiving calls from users whose medical equipment presents a problem or if they require another service. The service is managed by creating a case with the purpose of giving an excellent follow-up, from its reception until the end of the case. The main objectives are to identify the customer’s information by just answering their call, providing the best service with an excellent response time. Keeps the customer informed of the status of their case and also to know the customers satisfaction once the case is completed, at the same time decreasing the use of resources by not using paper and providing all the information digitally.

Unidev-Solutions:

Initial Problem: Make an web site where a company of real state can sell their houses and store the information of them in Salesforce.

Final Description of the problem provide by the team:

When you want to buy a property you could have a lot of trouble.
The problem lies in the attention given to the client by the company, and how the customers react to it. Also to a large extent in the visits or sales meetings between the customers and the sellers. To fix this we developed an application in which customers can access information on properties without having to contact a particular seller. We also integrated a virtual tour, so that the customers can see the house remotely. Salesforce provides us with optimal components, which we use to solve the previously identified problems. Unlike using open source, in salesforce the majority is already built, it is only to assemble the puzzle and adapt it to our needs. This is helping us to reduce development time and provide a good quality service.

Team Presentation:

We had a final presentation event where 84 people showed up to see the students’ work during the semester. I am glad to say that the principal of the faculty joined us and share a moment with us and we had 6 Salesforce professionals as guest with the goal to evaluate and give some feedback on the students’ projects. One of the best thing of this presentation was that we got some vouchers for a Salesforce certification exam for the best students during the semester and we gave them to many of them.

Finally this first experience with the class was exceptional for the students and for me and I’m very happy to say that during this semester we reached 859,918 points and 913 badges on Trailhead.

If you like this post you should read the Final Presentation May 2019 post in order to know what happened the next semester. 🙂
